Biography
Andri Soteri-Proctor is Research Associate at the Institute for Political and Economic Governance (IPEG). Andri joined IPEG in January 2007. She is working on a new IPEG project looking at topical issues about how people from different ethnic backgrounds can achieve their housing aspirations and move up the housing ladder, and how we can better achieve mixed communities. The study, hitting the glass ceiling?, is being done jointly with LSE Housing and is funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
Andri has recently submitted her PhD in the Sociology Department at the University of Manchester. Her thesis looks at the extent to which voluntary sector organisations can successfully engage with government employment initiatives by offering temporary employment opportunities to long-term unemployed people on the New Deal for Young People programme. Prior to this, Andri worked on a variety of research projects primarily to do with the voluntary and community sectors. These include studies on the funding and capacity-building issues of women's organisations; volunteer retention; faith and voluntary action; trust and partnership.
