An early presentation at a conference in Denmark in 2003 on these issues led Gerry Stoker to produce a paper on 'Public Value Management: A new approach to networked governance'. This paper will be published in the Americal Journal of Public Administration in 2006. Further work on thinking through the dynamics of governance is being prepared as part of the ESRC Fellowship work between Gerry Stoker and Vasudha Chhotray. A book analysing a wide range of governance literature should be completed by December 2006.

Work on an audit tool for governance has also been started and an initial presentation of findings made at an ANU seminar in June 2005. A book that looks at the prospects of democratic governance under the title ' Why Politics matters' is under preparation by Gerry Stoker and should be completed by October 2005.

Gerry Stoker received an award in November 2004 from the Political Studies Association - the Political Science 'Making a Difference' award for a distinguished array of publications that have shaped various debates on governance. The aim of this strand of IPEG's work is to make it a centre for thinking about the future prospects for governance.
