Since 2002, the Corporate Governance Cluster has acted as an internal discussion group and has organised outside speakers for seminars as well as occasional afternoon workshops. Uniquely, it brings together researchers from all across business and management areas of the University. Initially the Corporate Governance Cluster debated different views of governance within the local academic community before settling onto the current format of distinguished guest speakers for Wednesday afternoon seminars and occasional workshops, which include practitioners.
Guest speakers in 2003-4 included Mike Power (LSE), Diane Coyle (Enlightenment Economics) and Tony Prosser (University of Bristol). A major international conference on 'Controlling & Rewarding Managers' took place in May 2004 where outside speakers including Robert Boyer (CEPREMAP) and Paul Myners (Guardian Media Group) participated.
