Conference Suite, Harold Hankins Building

IPEG welcomes Professor Don Green, a pioneer of the use of the experimental method in politics, with his series of landmark experiments testing the impact of Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaigns, as outlined in the book with Alan Gerber, Get Out the Vote: How to Increase Voter Turnout (2004). He will launch the seminar and the series with a lecture on the experimental method in political science. Professor Gerry Stoker will seek to summarise the experience central government has with experiments in a separate lecture. In the afternoon, Professor Peter John will summarise the results from a voting experiment from the 2005 General Election, where he ran a GOTV campaign. At the conclusion of the day, a round table, including the speakers will reflect on the proceedings of the day and their implications for policy and practice.
